Who needs to offer Qurbani?
Any person who is eligible to pay Zakah (according to Hanafi fiqh).
Can I pay for someone else?
Yes. It is in fact sunnah to offer an extra Qurbani on behalf of those who cannot afford it.
What can be sacrificed?
An entire small animal, such as a goat or sheep, or a share in a larger animal, like a cow. The reward for each are the same.
Why do we sacrifice an animal?
In commemoration of the unwavering devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was ready to give up the life of his son Prophet Ismail (AS) upon Allah’s command.
When is Qurbani due?
The animal must be sacrificed before the sun sets on the 4th day of Eid. Therefore, you can donate for Qurbani up until 3rd day of Eid (before Maghrib salah). It can be paid a month in advance.
